Mailbox Care
We use a combination of exterior grade powder coated aluminum and Stainless Steel for the fabrication and finishing of our products. While these materials offer a very durable finish, the right care and maintenance are essential to combat the effects of nature’s elements and keep your products looking great!
Give your product a monthly-quarterly wipe down with a microfiber cloth and mild soap and water mixture to keep it free from any harsh chemicals and salt/mineral buildup.
In coastal areas where saltwater can accelerate the aging of the finishes and northern areas where road salt is used more frequent care and cleaning will help to remove the buildup of salt and keep it from attaching to the finishes. The buildup of salt over time can dull the finishes or leave them looking chalky.
In areas with sprinklers, be sure the sprinkler heads are pointing away from the installed product. Sprinkler water can contain harsh minerals/chemicals which can damage the finishes over time.
Please be mindful that these are outdoor products and will get dirty. In landscaped areas or installations at the street; water, dirt, salt, and debris may get splashed onto the finishes. Though this is expected, failure to take proper care of the products may cause premature wear or leave the finishes with a chalky appearance. Please note that lack of proper care is not covered under the mailbox warranty.
Following these simple care and maintenance tips will extend the life of your Deus Modern product and keep it looking new for years to come!
For added benefit you can reference our guide below for your specific finishes.
Powder Coated Surfaces
- Wipe down surfaces using a microfiber cleaning cloth and mild multi-surface cleaning solution like Simple Green. Do not use harsh or abrasive chemicals or rags.
Stainless Steel Surfaces
- Apply a small amount of stainless steel cleaner/polish to a microfiber cleaning cloth and polish surfaces as needed. Failure to keep this finish clean and polished can allow surface rust to develop.
Metalgrain Surfaces (Discontinued Finish)
- Using a microfiber cleaning cloth apply a small amount of UV Protectant solution to Metalgrain surfaces every few months or as needed to keep the finish from fading.
Wood Surfaces (Discontinued Finish)
- Lightly sand using a medium grit foam sanding block. Be sure to wipe off any sawdust from surface and then apply a small amount of wood refinishing oil to surface using a stain application pad.
